Post Fracture Rehabilitation

The number of bones in an adult human is approximately 206. Our bones have duties such as providing movement through organs, keeping the body upright and protecting the organs. Our bones, which have an important place in our daily activities, also have a fragile structure. Over time, we may encounter situations such as fractures and cracks in the bones due to various effects such as falling and hitting.

The first important step of fracture treatment is completed by orthopedists, and depending on the region of the fracture, immobility may be required during the healing period. Problems such as joint stiffness and muscle wasting (atrophy) may occur due to immobility, and at this stage, the aim of fracture rehabilitation is to regain functionality.

Physical therapy should be started as early as possible in order to disperse the edema and preserve the range of motion, muscle strength and dexterity of the fracture during the immobilization period. The purpose of the early rehabilitation program; Prevention of scar formation, atrophy, contractures and adhesions with rehabilitation, preserving the gliding of the tendons and the length of the muscle fibers. With this program, it is aimed that the joints affected by immobility regain their former functional capacities as soon as possible. With the early rehabilitation program, it is aimed to prevent scar formation, atrophy, contracture and adhesions, and to preserve the gliding of the tendons and the length of the muscle fibers.
